“The use of preventive quality tools sustainably improves product / process quality and reliability and counteracts potential problems ahead of time.” We find this sentence in most quality manuals. However, the introduction and implementation in practice is often a lengthy process with some stumbling blocks.

In this part of the series of technical articles, we would like to take a closer look at an essential part of advance quality planning, the FMEA. The aim is to generate an understanding of the goals and benefits of predictive quality planning, discuss the basics and principle of FMEA, present tools for FMEA, and provide tips and tricks for conducting an FMEA.
